Gateshead Schools Dance Festival 2017

On Wednesday 5th April, the Joseph Swan Dance Academy attended the annual Gateshead Schools Dance Festival at the Sage, Gateshead.

Over the two days there were 97 schools, 2,500 students and over 2,000 spectators. The girls performed on the busiest night with 19 schools and over 1,000 spectators. The event commentator was Capital Radio’s very own Matt Bailey and local singer Channy was there to perform a special concert for the students.

As always the girls put on a phenomenal show and put a modern twist on the “Back to the 80s” theme. They performed to Girls Aloud’s “I think we’re alone now” with great style and finesse.

The girls have worked so hard as a team since September and have really committed their time to this club, this showed in their performance as it was one of the stand out performances of the night. The girls were exceptional throughout the night – from sorting hair and make up, rehearsing and travelling to representing at the venue.

I am very sad to see the Year 11 girls leave us, they have been the heart and soul of the club for four years now and have been real role models to the younger students – they will be a huge miss!! Especially their excellent song choices to sing along to….

I’m super proud of all the girls – well done!!
