At Grace College, we encourage all students to always strive for their personal best, aiming to achieve full marks in every assessment. The purpose of our assessments is not just about achieving a score but understanding where students excel in the curriculum and identifying areas that may require further development or reteaching.
We intentionally do not share target grades with students. This is because we want every student to aim as high as possible without placing any ceiling on their achievement. Our goal is for students to continually improve, remembering and applying more knowledge as they progress through the curriculum.
For Years 7 to 10, progress is measured by how well students can recall knowledge and apply it. Students will be assessed in the following ways:
- Three Expert Knowledge Quizzes, assess knowledge recall from the curriculum content learned so far.
- Two Powerful Knowledge Assessments, which are divided into two sections:
- Section A: Knowledge recall.
- Section B: Application of knowledge.
- One Annual Exam, which tests cumulative knowledge from across the academic year.
For Year 11, students are assessed on their progress towards GCSE grades. This includes:
- Trial Exams are held in November, followed by a second set of Trial Exams for core subjects in March.
These assessments are essential to track progress and prepare students for success at GCSE. Remember, the ultimate goal is not just to pass an exam but to develop a deep understanding of the curriculum, setting a strong foundation for the future.
Students should work hard, aim high, and keep pushing towards their personal best.
