Dear Parents, Carers and Students,
Many of us have been deeply shocked and saddened by the events in the Ukraine over recent days. It is easy to feel helpless, angry and uncertain at times like this.
I want to suggest, however, that there are four things we can do at this time:
1) We can pray and I would encourage people to do so if you feel able. I have included a prayer below which has been published by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York which you may find helpful.
2) We can speak out. It is important that as a College, we remain politically impartial. We are, however, a community shaped by the core virtues of love and fairness. Being loving and fair means we are sometimes called to stand against injustice and to stand against those who would promote hate over love.
3) We can give, and we are therefore launching a Grace College Ukraine Appeal today. All money raised will go to support The Salvation Army, who are actively working to support those in need of food, shelter, clothing, and hope. If everyone in our College community were able to give £3, we could raise over £4,000 in a few days. Please consider carefully whether you can give generously to this campaign. All money can be donated via our Grace College Ukraine Appeal JustGiving Page.
4) We are also collecting donations of toiletries, warm clothing and sleeping bags which will donated to the Polish Centre and transported to the Ukraine to support those in need at this very challenging time.
