Year Group Assessment Points
Assessment plays a pivotal role in teaching and learning at Grace College. It gives students practice in recalling what they have learned and allows staff and students the ability to identify which areas of knowledge and understanding are secure, and which may need to be further developed.
Assessments are done in a variety of ways in the college, but across each year group there are set assessment windows where staff report on the progress of students which are also published to parents and guardians. These reports will either record students termly assessment scores, or annual/rehearsal examination scores.
Termly assessments record a student’s progress through the curriculum for each subject they take. This score, out of 120 for each subject, is a culmination of the assessments taken in class over a number of weeks as part of our schemes of learning. Annual assessments are yearly exams that take place in our exam venues, to give students an opportunity to experience and practice taking exams in a formal setting. These assessments are reported using a trajectory grade. This grade is given on a 9 to 1 GCSE scale and is the grade we expect the student to be able to achieve in their GCSEs if they continue on their current learning pathway. For examination year groups (year 11 and year 13) rehearsal examinations replace these annual assessments, with the reported grade being the GCSE or A level grade they are currently working at. These year groups also have two set assessment windows as external examinations take place in the final term.
Below is a table showing the assessment points of each year group throughout the year. Reports to parents and guardians will be released in the weeks following these assessment windows.
