A Level Success!

Congratulation to all of our students in Year 13 for what they have achieved this year.  

The students have been a credit to themselves and the Grace College community in the way that they have approached all of the challenges that the year has brought, and we look forward to hearing about their future successes as many of them embark on university and apprenticeship places.  

This year, following the cancellation of exams, our teachers have worked to award grades through the ‘teacher assessed grades’ process. These grades were awarded against a national standard and have been approved and awarded by the awarding organisations (exam boards). In school we also worked hard to ensure that our grades were awarded consistently across the year group and we worked with the other schools in our family of schools to ensure that our students received accurate grades today on results day.  

There are reasons for celebration throughout the year group and the stories here give us a glimpse of the successes within the cohort.

• Caitlin Curry will be going on to study Law at Liverpool University, having achieved the highest UCAS points score in the year group. She achieved 3 Distinction* in Business, Health and Social Care and Travel and Tourism.  
• Chloe Chater will go on to study Psychology at York University having achieved 2As (Physics and Mathematics) and a B (Chemistry).  
• Ellie Farrell achieved D* D*( H & S, Sport) D (Applied Science)  to study Adult Nursing at Leeds University, and is excited about the varied opportunities that the course will provide her with in the future.  
• Faith Ramsey achieved 3As in English Literature, History and Politics, after serving the College community as Head Girl this year. She is taking a year to work as an intern at St. George’s Church, Gateshead, before going on to study American and Canadian Studies at Nottingham University.   
• Alistair Millar, Scott Bradley, Adam Tattersall have been in education together since nursery in Low Fell and then Primary school at Kells Lane, where they were joined by Nathan Cole and Luke Brydon. They will now finally be separated as they go on to higher education. 
  Scott plans to travel to the USA, Adam will be heading to study Computer Science at Liverpool and Alistair will be studying policing at Northumbria University. Nathan is starting a post-18 apprenticeship with Gordon Brown solicitors in Gateshead and Luke will be working for the NHS. We wish the boys all the best!
