From Mr M Hall (Principal)

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have experienced another productive week at Grace College!

Our Year 11 and 13 students have been involved in a variety of assessment activities; I pay tribute to their determination and diligence during this significant time.

You may have seen the Prime Minister’s announcement that the recommendations for students and staff to wear face-coverings in schools end on Monday 17 May. I can confirm that students and staff at Grace College will no longer be required to wear face-coverings in classrooms. However, face-coverings are required to be worn when moving around the corridors. The virus has not disappeared, and many restrictions do, by necessity, remain in place. We must continue to be vigilant; handwashing, ventilation and social distancing must continue to be significant control measures. Furthermore, I urge all students and staff to ensure they are regularly utilising the lateral flow tests which have been issued by the College. It is crucial we continue to do all we can in keeping each other safe at this time of transition.

I am pleased to share this link with you in the light of it being Mental Health Awareness Week. This website provides parents and carers with a range of strategies to support their children. Our website also contains helpful links to a number of agencies which can provide young people and their families with support.

I would also like to draw your attention to a new function available via ParentPay. Parents and carers are now able to set up low balance alerts for school meals. More information regarding this can be found here.

Students in all year groups have been purposefully learning both in and out of the classroom. I am particularly pleased to see many students making the most of extra-curricular clubs recommencing in a variety of subject areas. As restrictions ease, we are turning our attention to further developing this area of College life. I look forward to sharing more in due course, but in the meantime, check out our brilliant Year 7 footballers who are making excellent progress on a Thursday evening.

Parents and carers still have opportunity to contribute to our remote learning survey. I would be grateful if you would take the time to complete this form.

This week our subject feature is provided by the PE department. I encourage the whole community to enjoy some time being active outdoors this weekend.

Thank you for your continued support!

Yours faithfully,

Mr M Hall
